A Special Gift

There's a birthday or holiday coming up, and you want to give that important someone a special gift that matters. How about a present that makes a real difference. Well did you know that many charitable organizations offer items for sale that will not only make your loved one smile, but will also support a good cause.

Before you click away, think for a second if there's a charity that's important to the gift recipient. You will be giving a special gift that serves a couple of purposes. Yes you really care, not only about the person getting the gift but about the things that are important to him or her. Oh, and let's not forget that this special gift will be helping out people in need.

I first decided to choose this type of present for those closest to me after a friend of mine found out she had breast cancer. Thankfully, she's a survivor. But in any case, every Christmas she gets a special gift that is in some was connected to breast cancer awareness and research.

St. Jude's Hospital is one of my favorites. So every year I select a special gift for people on my shopping list from this special organization. St. Jude's Hospital provides so many helpful services.

A parent's worst fear is finding out that their child has cancer. St. Jude's supports families during this painful time in their lives by allowing them to stay near their child while the child is in the hospital.

Understand that many families must travel hundreds of miles to get the care their children need. St. Jude's makes sure they are financially able to stay close to their little ones. So choosing a special gift from this organization allows you to help others while giving a precious item to someone you love.

Ok, so that's one of my favorites, but there are numerous worthy organizations for you to choose from. If someone you know is touched by autism, find an organization that supports autism research. Chances are they will have hats, t-shirts, or something used to help them raise money.

Probably everyone you know has a favorite cause. Finding an organization that has items to support those causes is a great thing. You will help so many people by simply giving a special gift that continues to give.
